Mitchells Plain

There is a a strong need for child care in the Mitchells Plain area. This is borne out by the phenomena that “every second house is a creche (child care centre)”. These centre’s are primarily care centres and not education centres and there is very little coordination amongst the various centres.

There is also a distinct lack of funding for pre school and after school care. There is, however, a strong indication from government that funds will be made available for home-based educare centres.

Coupled to this is a strong demand from the general public for quality child care.

The Montessori method is proving to be very popular and most suited to prepare our next generation for the new challenges facing South Africa. Learners are being prepared to be independently selfreliant and to take the initiative in anything they tackle. There is, however, a lack of training opportunities for care-givers.

Our aims to address these problems and at the same time empower care givers to deliver a quality product by establishing the Montessori Teacher Training Centre in Mitchells Plain.
